Let's face it: when a guest books a non-refundable rate on your property, you feel safe.
That money is yours, collected and guaranteed. But what happens when the client contacts you desperately because they've had an unexpected event and want to cancel?
Here begins the real dilemma of every host and hotelier:
Stay firm, keep your money, and risk a 1-star review?
Meet the customer, refund, and find yourself with an empty room at the last minute?
And what if we told you that there is a third way that 90% of Booking.com partners aren't yet taking advantage of? A real “twist” integrated into the Extranet that allows you to save both the goat and the cabbage: the Automated Date Change for Non-Refundable Reservations.

The strategic advantages for your business are immediate:
Zero Cash Flow Losses: The money remains in your account or on your Virtual Credit Card (VCC).
Employment rate saved: You don't have to relist the room at the last second by selling it off.
5 Star Reviews: Guests will perceive your property as extremely professional and flexible.

The rules of the game: You're always in charge
Booking.com's algorithm protects partners. This isn't exactly a Wild West where guests can do as they please. Automatic date changes are activated. required under these conditions:
Earnings equal to or greater than: The customer can only move dates if the new stay costs the same as the previous one or more. You'll never lose a cent on the original rate.
Only one possibility: Changes are permitted only once per booking.
The shielding of the dates: You can decide the minimum notice period (e.g. changeable only up to 5 days before check-in) and block high season periods or long weekends in which you do not accept changes.
How to activate the feature in 2 minutes
If you want to stop manually handling customer complaints and automate the process, follow these steps inBooking.com extranet:
Log in and click on the tab Structure, then select Terms.
Find the voice Change of dates for non-refundable reservations and click on Modification.
Check the opt-in box and set your notice deadline.
Enter your exceptions (the dates you don't want changes) and click Save.
If you use the Payments via Booking.comThe difference in fare is automatically added to the existing VCC. If you manage payments yourself, you can charge the difference to the customer's card.
If the guest doesn't pay within 24 hours, the reservation will be canceled and you will retain the original amount.
You can only reduce the number of nights you've chosen if the few nights you've chosen have a higher price (e.g., during high season) that covers or exceeds the total value of the original reservation. The system automatically blocks downward changes.
Setting up date changes is just the first step to optimizing your cash flow. Dominating the non-hotel market requires a comprehensive vision: dynamic pricing management, no-show protection, and search engine positioning.
