The Ministry of Tourism has announced a significant initiative to support tourism businesses located in municipalities within the ski areas and districts of the Apennine ridge: the call for proposals to support Apennine tourism.
Initially, it is a non-repayable contribution aimed at countering the economic difficulties caused by the lack of snow and the consequent decrease in tourist presences recorded between 1 November 2023 and 31 March 2024.
This measure, regulated by Article 20 of Legislative Decree 9 August 2024, no. 113, provides for a total allocation of 13 million euros for the year 2024. Consequently, the Notice in question defines the criteria and methods for determining and assigning resources, as well as the deadlines for submitting applications.
Who can benefit from the Apennine tourism support
Topics index
Hotel managers are among the potential beneficiaries of this contribution. The Notice specifies that the resources are intended for tourism-accommodation businesses that operate, or have their operational headquarters, in the municipalities identified by the Regions within the Apennine ski areas.
Furthermore, a fundamental requirement is to have suffered a reduction in revenues of no less than 30% in the period from 1 November 2023 to 31 March 2024, compared to the period from 1 November 2021 to 31 March 2022.
It is important to note the update of the ATECO codes: for tourism and hospitality businesses, reference will be made to the ATECO 2025 classification, in force from 1 January 2025. Specifically, hotel managers will have to verify that their business is classified under the code 55.10.00 “Hotel and similar accommodation services”, or other relevant codes such as hostels, refuges, or bed and breakfasts.
Application methods and terms
Applications to access the contribution must be submitted exclusively via Certified Electronic Mail (PEC) to the dedicated address: fondo.appennini.2025@pec.ministeroturismo.gov.it.
Applications can be sent from 11 June 2025 at 12:00 to 10 July 2025 at 12:00, under penalty of exclusion. The pre-filled application form, downloadable from the institutional website of the Ministry of Tourism, must be attached to the PEC, together with all the documents requested in the form.
In particular, attention must be paid to the fundamental attachment: a certified appraisal drawn up by an auditor registered in the Register of Legal Auditors. Consequently, this appraisal must certify in detail the reduction in revenues or income, providing the amounts relating to the reference periods and the percentage of loss suffered.
Distribution criteria and controls
The 13 million euros will be distributed among eligible applicants in proportion to the losses incurred, without prejudice to the maximum limits set by the European legislation on “de minimis” State aid.
The Ministry of Tourism will evaluate the applications received, verifying the completeness of the documentation and the truthfulness of the declarations made. To this end, cross-checks will be carried out with the Business Register and the archives of the Revenue Agency, as well as checks on the certified appraisal.
In case of formal errors, the Ministry may request additional documentation, granting a ten-day deadline for regularization. For hotel managers, this represents a crucial opportunity to mitigate the negative impacts of a difficult winter season, so it is advisable to carefully prepare the necessary documentation and scrupulously respect the submission deadlines.
All the details and further information on this Notice are available on the Ministry of Tourism website.
