Tell us about yourself and your business

My name is Luisa and, since 2013, I have been carrying out the role of Hospitality and Web Consultant.
In particular, I deal with helping accommodation facilities both with the commercial-distribution part and with correspondence with the end customer, but also with digital branding and blogging where required.
I am periodically teacher of the Hotel receptionist course where we address the daily topics and cases of the Room Division sector. The kids who choose this course have the curiosity that I also had to know more and understand how to grow, improve, stay in the environment, stay in Italy or leave for an experience abroad.

How did your business start?

I have always worked in Front/Back office but, over time, I have expanded my initial knowledge and functions, as well as started to participate in training courses in revenue management, viral marketing & SEO, or to attend some of the main trade fairs in Italy, London or Berlin.
I opened my blog in 2012, when I was still working operationally in a hotel, to share thoughts and opinions on situations that were part of my daily life.
Over the course of a few years I thought about transforming that idea into something profitable and useful as an advertising showcase... The classic situation that started by chance.

What advice do you give to hoteliers who want to improve their business/structure?

I learned how much the Web listening is useful for understanding how satisfied or disappointed our customers are with the offer received.
I think that any structure, hotel or non-hotel, must not stop improving its offer and maintaining good or high quality standards with the aim of increasing its target audience, as well as the good reputation developed over the years.
In difficult cases of poorly maintained structures that often disappoint the end customer, the work becomes much more complicated.

What advice do you give to someone who is about to open a hospitality facility?

Starting from scratch is always difficult, not being well informed about what you want to achieve can be a real flop for your business.
Do it then an analysis of its structure, territory, pros and cons of the area, number of structures present in the neighborhood and their selling price can be a help for a business plan that can look forward and hold up for at least the first 5 years of activity.
Think not today be online with a good offer and consistent communication is definitely an opportunity not to be missed.
In this difficult period caused by an unexpected pandemic, we can plan for the future with a little optimism and by calculating the risks more than before, studying our target audience and possible timescales... there would still be a lot to say, this is just a little message.

How can accommodation facilities collaborate with you to improve their business?

Ideally they would understand thoroughly what to improve, both in structure and in motivating and updating its staff. What is your ideal customer looking for? In fact, in recent years I have met entrepreneurs and hosts who did not understand what to do and why their business was inexorably changing from year to year.
