In recent days, the Council of Ministers issued a new Decree Law, approved on July 22nd and which will be fully mandatory starting August 6th. This is the Green Pass. This very important element is included among the activities related to Anti-Covid sanitization . What will change with the Green Pass for hotels and accommodation facilities?
The Green Pass , or green certification, is a free document that allows its holder to travel between all Italian regions. Certification can be obtained in the following cases:
- Vaccination occurred;
- Recovery from Covid-19 has occurred;
- Unhygienic test carried out with negative results.
The new decree provides that the Green Pass will be requested for various activities, including:
- exhibitions, theaters and museums
- indoor restaurants and bars
- game rooms, betting rooms
- fairs and conferences
- amusement parks
- gyms
It is good to keep in mind that for anyone who violates the rules there is a fine of 400 to 1000 euros on the part of both the operator and the user. If the violations are repeated on 3 different days, the business may be closed for 1 to 10 days.
The interest in hotels focuses on indoor restaurants and bars.
Green Pass in Hotels: what changes for accommodation facilities?
For the moment, the Green Pass will be required for the services and activities for which it is intended.
Furthermore, by August 12th you will be able to travel in Europe even without Certification. It will be sufficient to show the certifications of completion of the vaccination cycle, recovery or test.
The Italian tourist who decides to stay in a hotel is not obliged to show any certification of vaccination, other than the usual identity documents. But things get complicated when an accommodation facility, whether a hotel or a farmhouse, has an internal catering service. The restaurants of the accommodation facilities are not specified in the decree.
In theory (to be defined in practice), guests can stay freely in their rooms, but access to restaurants will only be possible with certification. This is because the current communication refers to "indoor" dining according to the regulations of August 6, 2021. The new decree on the Covid pass states that "the Green Pass will be mandatory to enter indoor bars and restaurants, but only at a table and not at a bar." For this reason, Federalberghi has sent a request for clarification to Rome. To date, many hoteliers are dissatisfied with this new decree; some maintain that cancellations are low so far , but with the extension of the Green Pass requirement, there are fears of very alarming cancellations.
