Goodbye to paper tax receipts for B&Bs and Hotels: what will change from July?

After electronic invoice, now it's time for receipts and to paper receipts. The process for electronic tax receipts is underway. What do you expect from July for B&Bs and Hotels? Will it be a definitive or gradual farewell? Let's delve deeper into the topic.

Update for electronic tax receipts : what are the time phases?

Even B&Bs and Hotels will have to say goodbye to paper tax receipts: from next July 2019 it will be the turn of larger shops and merchants, while from 2020 it will be the turn of the rest of the VAT numbers.

After the debut at the beginning of 2019 of the obligation for electronic invoicing in transactions between "private" entities, another epochal change is now approaching: the farewell to tax receipts and paper receipts.

But, what will actually change? After all, we live in the age of the electronic revolution, and the age of paper is now nearing its end.

An paperless revolution which we must necessarily get used to: the paper tax receipt issued by hotels and B&Bs will be replaced by electronic tax receipts.

Thanks to the obligation of electronic storage and telematic transmission of daily payment data, and subsequent sending, it will no longer be necessary to issue paper receipts and tax receipts.

In essence, the receipts will also be sent online to the Revenue. For fight tax evasion, even hotels, B&Bs and all hospitality facilities will necessarily have to deal with the process of forced digitalisation and technological adaptation desired by the tax authorities.

Electronic tax receipts: interested parties

From July 2019st XNUMX traders and shopkeepers with a turnover exceeding 400.000 euros will be affected by the news, while from 2020st January XNUMX the obligation will extend to all subjects who document their operations through receipts and tax receipts (subjects referred to in Article 22 of the VAT Presidential Decree).

Therefore, the data of the daily fees will have to be stored and transmitted to the Revenue Agency. The fulfillment will also concern, as already mentioned, all hotels and accommodation facilities and must be completed through the new Telematic Recorders (RT) or free Sogei services, technological partner of the Italian tax authorities.

Electronic tax receipts: what will change for consumers?

Once electronic receipts and receipts are in full effect, what will change for final consumers? Following the purchase of a good or the provision of a performance or service (stay in a hotel, purchase of a meal in a restaurant, etc.), each final consumer will receive a commercial document in electronic format which will contain the following data:

  • company, name or company name, name and surname of the issuer;
  • issuer's VAT number;
  • date and time of issue;
  • sequential number;
  • description of the goods sold and the services rendered;
  • amount paid.
