La savory breakfast it is increasingly present on the table of Italians and - in the reference period 2018-2023 - the volume of online searches dedicated to recipes for a savory breakfast marks a double-digit growth (+61,88%).
Many choose it within one varied and balanced diet, as an option to start the day by limiting the number of sugars but not skimping on the calories that are necessary to face a long day at work. From smartphones and desktops, users browse reference cooking sites or query search engines to find new savory recipes to try for breakfast.
But what were the most clicked recipes in the last 12 months for a good savory breakfast? The interest in the dough for savory crepes is firmly in first place (with over 2 million 500 thousand searches in the period examined), while the pleasure of a Soft focaccia (about 1 million 500 thousand searches) for breakfast and a brioche bread to be filled as desired (450 thousand searches in the same period) complete the podium. Outside of the top places we then find a great breakfast classic beyond the Alps: the original recipe for a wave omelette (with over 230 thousand searches).
Stars and Stripes breakfast
Analyzing traffic data and month-on-month searches with the relevant keywords of interest has made it possible to identify a growing interest from users also towards the American breakfast, which marks a growth of +13% in the period under review.
The most searched recipes for indulging in a perfect American breakfast - in the last 12 months - take us back to the great classics of the stars and stripes tradition: the original recipe of the timeless pancake (with almost 4 million 470 thousand searches), the basic mixture for Crepes desserts (over 2 million 500 thousand searches) ei muffin chocolate, also here in their most classic version (over 900 thousand searches).

Sugar-free breakfast
Porridge also tops the list of breakfast searches unsweetened, next to light biscuits and to the always loved one Apple pie, this time in his version unsweetened.
From the point of view of the genre, no surprises: le women were the most active in searches for sugar-free breakfast recipes (90% of total searches) and, in general, in the online search for recipes for preparing dishes (86%) compared to men (which stop at 14%).
The observatory shows us a country that is also changing in its breakfast preferences, and "Italians are diversifying their morning habits with increasingly varied and interesting choices. This evolution reflects a growing interest in one lifestyle healthier and more diverse, where every type of breakfast according to taste and need has its own space and its own recipes to experiment with” concludes Simona.
