Cultural tourism in Italy: a journey that inebriates the senses

    cultural tourism

Man has been involved in cultural tourism since ancient times. The Grand Tour which initially spread at the end of the nineteenth century was the maximum expression of cultural tourism, in fact it was intended for noble young aristocrats eager to undertake a journey that would open them up to new perspectives, intending to explore new horizons admiring scenery and new panoramas. This explains why the most popular destinations were Italy and France, two jewels set in the heart of Europe which boast a thousand-year-old artistic-cultural heritage.

Now you may ask: how has this form of tourism evolved?

Therefore it was to be considered an elite tourism which was then influenced by the economic changes that have affected our society. We have in fact moved towards mass tourism which has also changed the way of conceiving travel, understood as a sort of discovery, which can immerse oneself in the most disparate sectors. Just think of the numerous forms of tourism recognized by legislation. cultural_travel

In my opinion it is very simplistic to talk about cultural tourism because currently to make a tourist package attractive it is necessary to combine different variables. The customer must feel placed at the center of the sales process and a professional travel agent must take care of the package in all its facets down to the smallest details.

He cannot therefore focus the trip exclusively on the discovery of monuments, churches and architecture which could also cause the very famous Sthendal syndrome, but must also identify delicious refreshment points, perhaps promoting the tasting of typical products. I believe that this makes the stay truly unique and inimitable, imprinting it in the tourist's heart.

Why should we not set aside the cultural aspect anyway?

The society we live in is affected by an evil: the consumerism, which triggered a process of massification and conformism, creating a crisis of values. For this reason we must focus on the cultural aspect because a work of art is capable of awakening particular emotions and sensations, touching the strings of the soul, penetrating its irrational part.
Le institutions do they appear aware or are they overwhelmed by the sleep of reason?

The institutions have become aware of this aspect of tourism in fact Ministry of Cultural Heritage Ministry_for_cultural_heritagehas promoted an interesting initiative: free entry to museums and archaeological sites on the first Sunday of each month. It is possible to consult the places that participate in the project on the dedicated page on Mibac
